Quoth the Maven

William Safire died recently. His On Language column in the NY Times Magazine combined a curiosity about words and their usage, playfulness in his forms of expression, and high dexterity in making his points, while maintaining precision in what he said. This type of writing is a joy to read. The piece linked below is about Safire, not by him. It too is a good read and has some prized lines from the master himself.
