Subject: BIF is PLATINUM!

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the U.S. Green Building Council has made its decision on the LEED rating for BIF. We earned their highest rating - Platinum!

This recognition of our commitment to sustainability and the environment puts us in a very exclusive class. We are the first college of business at any public university to receive a platinum rating. BIF is among only a dozen platinum certified projects at any university in the world, and is the first at any university or college in Illinois, where only 14 other buildings have been certified platinum.

We achieved this great feat because we chose to do so—without state funding and based only on our will to give life to a long-held dream, to do it the right way, and to engage those who believe in us. We should all take great pride in our initiative, our drive, and vision for the future that will lead the College of Business and the lives it touches to a healthier world.

With this announcement, we’ve achieved a great deal – but “being green” is a continual effort. The College will work with the architects, developers, campus, and groups like the Student Sustainability Committee to ensure that we reach our true potential as a leader not only in sustainable design, but in sustainable practice.

Be sure to share this great news.
